Our Mission Statement :  Living and trusting in God's amazing grace, we welcome all to worship, learn, and serve, in celebration of Christ's love.

Established in 1883, as a part of the Norwegian Lutheran Synod, the first church building was erected in 1895. The current sanctuary and basement were built on the present site in 1925, with the addition of a new parish unit, entrance and remodel of the basement that took place in 1960. We are a part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. Our worship services are each Sunday at 9:00 a.m., with a coffee fellowship time following the worship service.

What can you expect at Kerkhoven Lutheran Church? You will be welcome here, exactly as you are, no matter your background or history. You will be loved here, because you are God’s own beloved child and you are a partner with us as we serve all people. You will know God’s grace here, as you receive the sacraments, be surrounded in prayer, feel the Spirit’s presence in worship and service, and learn more about Jesus and his ministry. You will be included here, because we believe everyone has a part to play and work to do as we love God and love our neighbors as well as our own selves. We have many service opportunities for our members in our worship services : lector, usher, musicians and special music, altar guild, being an acolyte, and managing the live stream technology for the worship service.

At Kerkhoven Lutheran Church we gather together to hear the Word of God, receive the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion, to thank, sing praise, and pray. At Kerkhoven Lutheran the sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated at the first and third Sundays of each month and at special services throughout the year. We practice open communion and welcome all who believe that Christ is present through the bread and wine and we receive forgiveness, life, and salvation.

All are invited to join us at our Worship by Service Sunday at Kerkhoven Lutheran Church. Come at 8:30 am for coffee and donuts and litany. Then join a work group of your choice. We have outdoor projects such as cleaning a 2 mile stretch of Highway 12, helping a neighbor with yard clean up and property clean up. We also have some indoor projects for people who would like to tie quilts, prep food for freezer meals, color greeting cards to be shared with our neighbors and packing visitation bags. Following our shared work experiences we invite all to bring a dish to pass and join us for a shared potluck meal. If you are unable to join us for the work portion of the morning, please bring a dish and join us for the fellowship. It is anticipated that the meal will begin about 11:30 am. Hope to see you on Sunday!

If you have books you would like to share please feel free to leave them for others to pick up. Thank you to Eldon Hauge for building this out of some of the materials from the shelving in our former church library.
